a flash from the past

In 2014, my husband’s father died after a few years of declining health. We discovered, when we went up to San Francisco to help my mother-in-law cope, that the pair of them hadn’t been coping very well for quite a while.

The story linked below was written five years later, and is not a true story. It’s simply ‘inspired by true events.’ This was my first experiment with flash fiction. I think it holds up pretty well. Thus: MAP QUEST, short fiction about family archaeology.
