It's In The Heel: a new novelette

Happy New Year!

How about kicking off the queer-romance-reading year with my new M/NB midlife romance novelette, featuring a private-school teacher and a costume designer who meet cute at the pharmacy and quickly determine that the romance they weren’t even looking for is right in front of them: IT’S IN THE HEEL. Three key things:

  1. This is a stand-alone story but you will encounter a few of my other characters.

  2. Yes, shoes are involved.

  3. Content alert: both main characters lost parents during the pandemic.

Aside from that, this is a sweet, low-angst short read about acceptance. Rafael, the non-binary main character, has family from southern Mexico and Belize, where third gender people are not only accepted, the language has a name for them: muxe.

Darius, the gay main character, is a mixed race Black American whose attraction to Rafael doesn’t faze him one bit. He’s thrilled to meet someone close to his own age, at a similar stage of life, who lives nearby, and who’s even his same below-average height! Jackpot!

This was a fun story to write and I hope you’ll enjoy it too.
