We Shall Be Changed: a new novelette

This one is launching on December 9, 2024 as part of my publisher’s Advent calendar promotion. Bookmark JMS and check every day, December 1-24, for a new FREE title!

Each one will be released to other platforms the next day and discounted 25% for the week following launch. It’s a great way to try new authors in all kinds of romance subgenres.

Three key things about WE SHALL BE CHANGED:

  1. It’s a novelette (less than 20,000 words) friends-to-lovers age-gap M/M romance set in Las Vegas;

  2. It’s related to four other titles of mine (details below) but can be read as a standalone;

  3. It features my first intersex character, Benny Schneider, a longtime star in a local drag show.

As you may have noticed, nonbinary gender identities have become a political punching bag in the real world. This story, written in 2024, is set in 2021, before things got quite so shouty; Benny’s gender identity is a plot point. And the story is set in the real world, so references are made to the Covid-19 pandemic. Both main characters work in healthcare, and workplace violence connected to pandemic stress is also a plot point.

Okay, so which of my other characters appear in, or are referenced in, WE SHALL BE CHANGED? Click the highlighted titles below for QRI links* (the M/M titles) and, for the last one, a blog post with a bonus story and buy links.

Jaime and Ivan of FISHNETS & TINSEL, a M/M novelette;

Davy and Barry of COME TO ME, a M/M novella;

Ro and Reggie of TRIPLE X, a M/M novella; and

Sacha and Charlie of LOST & FOUND, a F/M novel with a queer sensibility.

The main characters in WE SHALL BE CHANGED are the aforementioned Benny Schneider and Dorian Weathers, 20 years Benny’s junior. Dori used to live in Los Angeles with his friends Jaime, Davy, and Ro; they played around with drag, calling themselves the Four Queens, and have been friends for fifteen years. Benny has a similar longtime friend group revolving around drag. This story and ‘Fishnets’ feature some behind-the-scenes drag-show fun..
