I’m pleased to announce that the big (91,000-word) M/M figure-skating romance novel is OUT! Released on May 17, 2025 by JMS Books; click that highlighted term for a link to the publisher’s page. Also available now at Amazon and soon to be available wherever ebooks are sold.
Three key things about TOTALLY THROWN:
This novel was inspired by a real-life rule change at Skate Canada. The sporting scenario here is not fantasy or alt-reality!
This is my first sports romance and I had to do so much research for it that I may well write more skating books. I’ve always been interested in the sport but never really knew much about it. If you think the world needs more figure-skating romances, please do let me know.
The relationship arc in this novel is directly tied to the training my two main characters undertake. It’s a chapter-per-month structure with dual POV, not first person.
What else do you need to know? Well, you can check out the TOTALLY THROWN page at Queeromance Ink (click the highlighted title to link) where you’ll find a blurb and a five-star review.
If you’re wondering whether any of my other characters make cameos - yes, they do! Charlie and Sacha Lebedev of LOST & FOUND offer to produce a training documentary for TOTALLY THROWN’s Jason and Laurent. Mateo and Sam of BEAT take on choreography when Jason and Laurent get to that point of developing their programs. There’s a glancing reference to Julian Sherwood of PUBLIC OFFERING, too.
While the rule change at the heart of TOTALLY THROWN is a real thing, this is a novel and certain other events are, in fact, not real. But other other events are, in fact, real!
The Ice Sports Industry does include “similar” (same sex) pairs and ice dance teams.
The Gay Games does include figure skating events.
Both of those competitive structures come into play in this book, because Jason and Laurent need ways to get out on competition ice while they work toward skating in Canada.
I had an absolute blast learning and writing about this complex and controversial sport - and I’d love to hear from readers.
